Signs Of Low Testosterone In Men

Low testosterone affects more than just libido. Symptoms often appear across multiple systems:

Sexual Health & Performance

  • Reduced sex drive
  • Difficulty achieving or maintaining erections
  • Decreased sexual satisfaction

Energy, Sleep & Recovery

  • Persistent fatigue or afternoon energy crashes
  • Poor sleep quality or unrestful nights
  • Slower workout recovery and lingering soreness

Mood, Focus & Motivation

  • Brain fog or difficulty concentrating
  • Low motivation or drive
  • Mood changes, irritability, or low confidence

Body Composition & Physical Performance

  • Loss of lean muscle mass
  • Increased body fat, especially around the midsection
  • Reduced strength, endurance, or athletic performance

Diminished hormone levels can slow you down physically and mentally, keeping you from enjoying the activities and lifestyle you once loved. You don't have to accept this as “normal aging.”

How Our BHRT Program Works

Patient Appointment
1

Comprehensive Evaluation

We begin with advanced lab testing to assess total testosterone, free testosterone, and other key markers. We also evaluate your symptoms, lifestyle, and performance goals. Consultations are available in-person or virtually.

Doctor Research
2

Establishing Your Baseline

Your lab results create a personalized hormone baseline. We don’t rely on generic “normal” ranges - we optimize based on how you feel and function. Your symptoms matter just as much as your labs.

Customized Treatment Plan

Based on your results and goals, we design a tailored testosterone optimization protocol, including precise dosing, administration training, and optional supportive therapies such as metabolic or body composition optimization. You'll leave with clear guidance and ongoing access to our clinical team.

Monitoring & Adjustments:
How We Track Progress

Ongoing Lab Monitoring & Symptom Review

Hormone optimization is not a one-time event - it's an ongoing process.

At Savannah Age Management Medicine, we continuously monitor both lab values and symptom improvement to ensure your treatment remains safe, effective, and aligned with your goals. Your plan may be adjusted over time based on:

  • Follow-up lab results
  • Symptom changes
  • Lifestyle, training, or health changes

Follow-up cadence and lab intervals will be confirmed with the clinical team prior to publishing final timelines.

Safety & What to Know Before Starting BHRT

BHRT is highly individualized and not appropriate for everyone. Before starting treatment, our providers carefully review your medical history, labs, and risk factors.

Common Patient Questions We Address:

  • Is testosterone therapy safe long-term?
  • What are the potential risks or side effects?
  • Could BHRT affect fertility?
  • Who may not be a good candidate for therapy?

Men with certain medical conditions may require additional evaluation or alternative approaches. Your safety is our priority, and treatment decisions are made collaboratively with you.

Medical Disclaimer:

BHRT is a medical treatment and should only be initiated under the supervision of a qualified healthcare provider. Individual results vary, and hormone therapy is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent disease.

Frequently asked questions

Deciding on Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is important, and you likely have questions. Here are answers to common questions to help you make an informed decision.

About BHRT
What is BHRT?

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) uses hormones that are chemically identical to the ones your body naturally produces. It is designed to restore balance and relieve symptoms of hormone deficiencies or imbalances, particularly during aging, menopause, or andropause.

Differences between BHRT, HRT, and TRT

BHRT is the most comprehensive way to treat dysregulated hormone levels in both men and women. Click the link below for more information on the differences between these treatment methods.

Difference Between BHRT, HRT & TRT and Why it Matters

How do I know if I need BHRT?

Signs that males and females might need BHRT:

  • Fatigue or energy loss
  • Loss of libido or arousal response
  • Irregular menstrual cycles
  • Hot flashes or night sweats
  • Mood changes or fluctuation
  • Memory issues
  • Weight gain
  • Sleep problems
  • Muscle loss
How is BHRT different from traditional hormone therapy?

BHRT hormones match your body's natural hormones exactly. Our program is designed to tailor dosing precisely to your levels, symptoms, and needs. For more even and sustained results, our program leverages injections rather than pellets.

About Savannah Age Management's BHRT Program
How long does it take to see results?

Patients will begin to experience initial improvements in the first 2-3 weeks, with full benefits within 3-6 months. Regular monitoring and adjustment of medication levels may be required.

What benefits can I expect from treatment?

Benefits of BHRT include but are not limited to:

  • Improved energy levels
  • Better sleep quality
  • Enhanced mood stability
  • Increased mental clarity
  • Improved libido
  • Better muscle tone
  • Reduced hot flashes
  • More stable weight management
Do you offer pellets?

No. In our experience, pellets are invasive, difficult to manage, and do not evenly deliver hormones.

Can your office serve as my Primary Care Physician?

We can offer Quick Care for things such as a sinus infection, COVID, Urinary Tract Infection, etc. However, we recommend you maintain a relationship with a Primary Care Physician or specialist for any chronic conditions you may have.

Will you refill medications that I am currently taking from my other physicians such as blood pressure medication, cholesterol medication, heart medication, etc.

No. These are medications for chronic conditions that should be managed with your specialist or Primary Care Physician.

Do I have to come into the office every week to get my testosterone injections?

No. We will teach you how to administer these medications on your own at home.

What if I need to see one of your providers during the year? Will I be able to make an appointment and be seen or will this be an extra fee?

Within reason, our providers will make themselves available to see you during the year if you have questions on your progress or treatment protocol. Additional services outside of the scope of BHRT can be administered for a fee.

Once I become a BHRT patient, do I receive a discount off of any of the other additional services that you offer?

Yes. Active BHRT patients will receive 10% of all other services offered in the clinic.

Real success stories

See how we've helped our clients transform their lives.

As a former D1 athlete with seven varsity letters, fitness has always been central to my life. In my seventies, aging challenges emerged - fatigue, poor sleep, and weight gain to nearly 230 pounds despite staying active.

After hearing Dr. Collins discuss Optimal Hormone Therapy, I had my testosterone tested, which revealed severely low levels. Within three weeks of starting twice-weekly T shots and supplements, I noticed improvements. My enhanced stamina enabled longer workouts, and I began building muscle at 72.

The program costs were modest, including ongoing prescriptions and blood reviews. Dr. Collins never pressured me and even suggested where to find the best supplement prices. His thorough physicals go beyond standard bloodwork, and both my wife and I are grateful for how this treatment has helped maintain my active lifestyle. I dropped to my high school weight of 200 pounds, and my bloodwork improved significantly.
